When Is
ADAS Recalibration Needed?
Recalibration is needed whenever a camera or sensor, or the thing it's mounted to, has moved. The most common triggers:
After Windshield Replacement
The forward camera is mounted to the windshield, so replacing the glass changes the camera's position. Many manufacturers call for calibration whenever the windshield is replaced on a camera-equipped vehicle. We check your vehicle's procedure when you request a quote.
After a Collision, Even a Minor One
A low-speed impact can shift a radar sensor behind the bumper or grille, or move the camera's mounting. Body repairs that replace a bumper cover, grille or bracket can change the sensor's reference too, even when the sensor itself wasn't damaged.
After Wheel Alignment, Suspension or Ride-height Changes
Sensors are aimed relative to the direction the car actually travels. An alignment, new springs, a lift or lowering kit, or steering work can change that, and some manufacturers require calibration afterward.
After a Camera or Sensor is Replaced
A new camera or radar unit has no stored reference for your vehicle. If it was installed elsewhere, we can perform the calibration it needs.

Static, Dynamic and Dual ADAS
Calibration
The method isn't a choice. Your vehicle's manufacturer specifies it, and some vehicles need more than one.
Static Calibration
The vehicle stays parked. Targets are set at the distances and heights the manufacturer specifies, and a scan tool guides the camera or radar to its reference. Static calibration needs a level surface, a clear area in front of the vehicle, even lighting without glare, and the vehicle prepared to spec (tire pressure, fuel level, no extra cargo). We confirm your location can meet those conditions before the appointment.
Dynamic Calibration
The vehicle is driven at set speeds on roads with clear lane markings while the scan tool monitors the system as it learns its reference. Heavy rain, snow, dense traffic or faded lane lines can slow it down or stop it from completing. If that happens, the technician will tell you on the spot.
Dual Calibration
Some manufacturers require both methods. First, the camera or radar is aimed at targets while the vehicle is parked. Then the car goes on a road drive while the scan tool confirms each system has finished calibrating. Your vehicle's service procedure decides whether dual calibration applies, and we check it against your VIN before booking. Each step needs its own conditions: a level, well-lit area for the static setup, and clear roads and weather for the drive.
